Many American students have begun attending college in Canada instead of the United States. Many want to work in Canada after graduation but worry about how much work experience they will need. These students might be ready to write a Canadian-style resume
, but they need to prepare for the foreign job market. If you want to work in Canada, then you will need a work permit. You have to meet certain qualifications to apply, such as being at least 18 years
old, having studied in Canada for at least eight months, and having a valid study permit when you submit for the work permit. Special exceptions are on the table. You can then use your work permit to apply for full citizenship, which will allow you to work anywhere you please in the country. To apply for permanent residence, you need to have completed at least 12 months of full-time employment, which comes out to 30 hours a week, amounting to 1,560 hours. However, you can also qualify if you work 15 hours a week for two years.
