In the United States, anti-discrimination employment laws have all but eliminated such requests, but you may sometimes see this peculiarity from international employers. Sometimes, too, you might be circulating copies of your resume at major networking events where employers are likely to get inundated with resumes. In such cases, attaching a photo may help them remember who you are.
It is best to be careful in any situation if you are considering adding a photo to your resume. An alternative to this is to complement your resume with a business card that features your photo. If you are submitting your resume online, you might attach the photo separately, too, rather than embedding it in the text of your resume. This allows potential employers to consider your resume with or without your photo so that you do not seem presumptuous.
