It can be tough to admit that you slipped up, but this is exactly the quality the interviewer wants to learn about. Everyone makes mistakes and the interviewer understands this. Admitting that you did make a mistake does not make you less appealing as a candidate. In fact, taking responsibility for your actions makes you more appealing.
So how should you answer this question? First, your response should make it clear that you were accountable. Describe the situation and how you reacted. You should mention what you did to fix your mistake and what the positive result was. Remember that your goal is to communicate that you will fix any mistakes you happen to make when working for them.
