Businesses primarily use vision statements to tell consumers what the company’s overall philosophy is. However, as a jobseeker, it is a good idea for you to review sample vision statements
to get an idea on how to create your personal statement. Once you review some examples of vision statements, you can include yours as the first sentence on your resume’s summary statement. For someone seeking a career in the food industry, a great vision statement would be, "I want to become a restaurant manager and provide customers with delicious food and first-class service." This is a great example because it clearly lays out what the jobseeker wants to achieve. However, the above statement is only half the battle. You also want to lay out how you plan on achieving this. If you do not currently have enough experience to become a manager right this second, then you need to describe how you will get to that point. It may involve applying to assistant manager positions right now and how you have shown leadership in previous roles. Above all else, remember an excellent vision statement needs to be short, sweet, and to the point.
