Many job candidates consider this and decide against it for fear of getting caught. You might wonder whether anybody has lied on their resume successfully and gotten hired as a result. The answer, of course, is yes. People lie to potential employers every day and may get hired despite their dishonesty. While you might get away with this in the short-term, though, the gig will eventually be up.
There are a multitude of reasons not to lie, but you should know first and foremost that employers will expect you to have the skills you claim you do. When it inevitably becomes apparent that you have misled your employer, you will likely lose your job at best and be legally liable at worst.
