There are many skills hairstylists need to possess, including knowledge of how to use applicator brushes, barrettes, nail clippers, razors, hot rollers, hair dryers, curling irons, and much more. Since they need to work with the general public, they also need to emphasize customer service skills on the application. Somewhere on the resume, jobseekers should mention what licenses they have. In some states, you cannot work as a hairstylist if you do not have the necessary certifications.
Additionally, you will want to focus on accomplishments on your resume rather than what you did on a daily basis. If you helped save a previous employer money or acquired an extensive list of regular clients, then you will want to mention that information.
