To do this, you must focus on the format and content of this important letter. Start the document with a header that includes your full name, street address, telephone number, and email address. Use a similar layout to the one on your resume to make the two documents feel cohesive. Once you have your header finished, you can start with the body of the letter. This should include the following:
• Opening paragraph
• Body paragraphs
• Sign off
Use short paragraphs or bulleted lists in your format to make the content stand out more. You may want to use a letter template in Word to help you get started.
As you build your letter in Word, keep the content focused on the job you want to get. This means you may want to include a hook statement in your opening paragraph to draw employers in. You can use the body paragraphs to go over the qualifications, accomplishments, and experiences that make you right for the job.
