Not only will you be planning the fundraising activities, you need to do research about the company because donors will want to know where their hard-earned money is going. You will need to know the current net worth of the company or charity, future goals, and the data related to investors. Even when events aren’t going on, you need to constantly contact different community leaders, government officials, and representatives. You need to not only find donors, but get as many people involved as you can. The more people you have excited about your cause and business, the more people you have to spread the word. You also need to make sure you send out thank you cards and packages to donors, and plan gifts and incentives for donors who give more than a predetermined amount.
Fundraisers Tools and Technology
You will need different tools and technology to ensure that you have every resource you need to do your fundraising duties. You should have customer relationship management software. This software will allow you to list everyone that is involved with your fundraising. This could include people who help with the fundraising and the donors.On top of different technologies, you need a few tools to help you with the job. You need a laptop so you can access your software wherever you go. You need your own vehicle so you can see clients, meet vendors, donors, and different fundraising sites. You also need a printer and fax machine so you can print papers and send forms to people whenever you need to.
Education and Training Fundraisers
To work as a fundraiser, you will most likely need a Bachelor’s degree. About 50% of people who work as a fundraiser have a Bachelor’s. You will need to focus on business and financial classes. Depending on what you are fundraising for, you may or may not need experience. If you are doing a small town fundraiser to help out, the people in charge probably won’t care if you don’t have any experience. If you are a fundraiser for a large business or charity, they will most likely expect you to have experience with job to make sure everything goes smoothly.
When it comes to salary, it will depend on what type of fundraising you are doing. The median salary in the united states is $52,400. If you have more than one client or are working for a more prominent business or charity, that amount could be might higher.
