A staff accountant termination letter should be precise, professional and to the point. Once the decision has been made to terminate a staff accountant, the informational process should be as quick and reserved as possible.

Dear Scott Ashton,
We regret to inform you that we will be eliminating your position and terminating your employment effective April 15th. This comes as a direct result of the decision to outsource all accounting activities to a third-party provider to help save the company money on non-core functions.
This is purely a business decision and in no way reflects on your professionalism or abilities. We would like to inform you that you are one of three staff accountants that we are recommending to the new outsource provider as possible hires. If you are interested in arranging an interview with the outsource company to discuss your credentials, please let human resources know as soon as possible and we will make the necessary arrangements on your behalf.
Your final paycheck will be available to be picked up on April 19th and will include any of your unused vacation and paid sick pay. Before allowing you to take your final check, we will require you to fill out an exit interview survey and turn in your company-issued identification card. We would like to wish you the best of luck and we do hope that you consider the offer with the new outsource company as that could lead to you working for our organization again.
