Dear Gene,
After reviewing your quarterly numbers, it is with great sadness that I am forced to terminate you as a sales representative for the Portland Corporation effective immediately. As per the hiring contract you signed, two consecutive quarters that do not meet sales goals result in an immediate dismissal. I am forced to execute that clause now.
For the past six months, I have attempted to work with you to get you to improve your numbers. The base of customers you inherited in your territory should have allows you a solid revenue foundation, but even those numbers started to drop after a few weeks.
I never received any complaints from customers, but I also never received any praise. It is my opinion that you simply did not go out into your territory and do your job. The improvement plan you and I put together three months ago should have yielded positive results, but it did not and I have to say that I am very disappointed in the way that this situation has turned out.
Please report to my office immediately to return company property and sign your final paperwork so that you may receive your final paycheck. If you have any questions, call me at 555-654-6543 or email me at dpriser@email.com.
Sincerely Yours,
David W. Priser
