Dear Mr. Paston,

I regret to inform you that Benson Incorporated will be going through a series of layoffs that will include your current position with the company. Due to poor sales and poor financial performance, Benson Incorporated will be laying off up to 35 percent of its workforce effective September 5, 2014. We find this decision difficult, but it was the only way for the company to avoid bankruptcy.

Benson Incorporated values each employee in the organization, but you were hired only one year ago and do not have the seniority required to stay with the company. We are committed to offering the best possible opportunities to our employees and we feel that this unfortunate decision was the only one we could make at this time.

Please report to your supervisor on your next scheduled shift and turn in your company identification badge and sign the necessary paperwork. Upon signing the paperwork, you will be presented with a paper check that will represent your final pay, your vacation pay due and your severance pay.

To make arrangements to move your retirement account, or to ask any further questions, please call our human resources department at 555-432-6654.

Sincerely Yours,

David T. Hopper
