There are plenty of air force job options ranging from pilot and enlisted command and control operations to air battle and airfield managers. Like other military career options, the candidates must meet the minimum selection criteria and pass a medical test before enlistment. The educational requirement for entry-level positions starts from a high school diploma; on the other hand, a 4-year bachelor's degree is required to become an air force officer. The qualification and other attributes vary depending on the assigned role. For example, someone entering as a military lawyer will need a law degree. In terms of military careers, the air force is the third-largest employer after Army and Navy.

Career Opportunities in Air Force

Air force jobs are broadly divided into two categories: enlisted and officers. Eligible candidates can join both forms of employment. After passing the mandatory suitability test, Enlisted candidates can participate in ground duties, repair, and other duties. The second category is air force officers, available in science, engineering, combat, healthcare, and other military fields. Here are some of the most popular air force careers:

  • Air Force Pilot: Air Force pilots are responsible for the safe flight of an aircraft. Pilots are responsible for pre-flight checks, flight planning, inflight duties, and post-flight inspections. They also provide navigational assistance to other pilots and help ground crews to refuel and maintain their aircraft. A bachelor's degree is the minimum educational qualification along with other criteria specific to the job role.
  • Bomber/Special Electronic Warfare Specialists: They are responsible for maintaining air crafts in top-notch condition and assisting pilots with identifying and locating threats. Those with a high school diploma and knowledge in aircraft maintenance can join as Bomber or Special Electronics Warfare Specialists.
  • Air Force Special Warfare Specialists: Air Force Special Warfare Specialists are responsible for planning, organizing, and executing Special Operations missions. Additionally, they conduct specialized instruction and training: survival skills (including evasion), escape and evasion, military free-fall parachuting, precision airdrops into combat zones from high altitude aircraft.

Apart from these high-flying careers, there are numerous opportunities in combat & warfare, science & technology, aviation, healthcare, and other areas.
