A Michigan-based logistics company has announced plans to create at least 200 jobs for professionals with accounting and finance experience on their resumes in North Carolina.The Charlotte Observer reports that XPO Logistics will build a new North American operations center in Charlotte, and will be offering jobs in finance and accounting, as well as information technology, human resources and logistics. The company said the average starting salary will be $56,606.
XPO uses independent contractors and other business networks to help companies ship their freight. Last year, the company brought in approximately $180 million in revenue.Sean Fernandz, XPO’s chief operating officer, told the news agency that the company hopes to boost that figure to several billion over the next 3 years by buying other companies and growing its existing business.We have big plans for our company, and Charlotte is at the center of those plans, XPO Chief Fernandez said. “These 200 jobs, they’re just the beginning.”The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment opportunities for accountants and auditors are expect to grow much faster than the average of other occupations, by 22%, through the end of the decade.
