Downstream Casino Resorts has announced it will add a new 7-story hotel to its complex, a move that will create new jobs for workers with a variety of qualifications on their resumes, including hospitality, food service and construction experience.
According to the Oklahoman, the Quapaw Tribe operated casino is expected to create hundreds of positions for people not only in Missouri, but in nearby Kansas and Oklahoma.
The expansion takes aim at raising the bar for destination resorts in this part of the country, casino spokesman Sean Harrison told the news outlet. The extravagant amenities are designed to add to the overall attraction of the casino so as to reach beyond its current 100-mile radius.” Harrison said that with the new $50 million hotel addition, the resort will include 5 restaurants and 2 motels. He said positions at the complex are considered good jobs which pay some of the best benefits in that part of the U.S. The casino-resort currently employs more than 1,200 full-time workers.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment opportunities for lodging managers are expected to grow by 8% through 2020, and be best for those with a postsecondary degree on their resume.
