While the effects of the recession can still be felt in many areas of the job market, the finance world is recovering and slowly adding opportunities for those looking for employment.

Folgers, a subsidiary of the J.M. Smucker Company, has broken ground on their new coffee production facilities in both Orleans Paris and St. Tammany Parish, according to The Governor Monitor.

The expansion was announced earlier this year, and will create 120 new jobs in the area, which will earn an annual average salary of $42,000.

“Our commitment to retaining and growing businesses is a crucial part of our work to create more opportunity for our people and build a better Louisiana for our children. The expansion by Folgers is a great win for Orleans Parish, Southeast Louisiana and our entire state,” Governor Bobby Jindal, told the news source. “Folgers’ expansion demonstrates the company’s confidence in the Greater New Orleans Region, and this confidence is being backed by significant investment and resources. In 2010 alone, Folgers, Globalstar, Blade Dynamics, Nucor and many other leading companies have announced major expansions or relocations in this region.”

According to the Louisiana Economic Development office, the 120 new jobs will result in an estimated 381 new indirect jobs in the New Orleans area.
