In Massachusetts, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is celebrating after state lawmakers approved a compact that will help it build a new a multi-million dollar casino in Taunton, according to the Brockton Enterprise.

I know there’s the underlying concern for other opportunities for people to bid, Senator Mark Pacheco told the news agency. "My response to that would be a new $80 million payroll anywhere in southeastern Massachusetts is a positive addition for citizens everywhere in southeastern Massachusetts and throughout the commonwealth of Massachusetts."

Massachusetts could soon attract hundreds of workers with hospitality and gaming experience on their resumes after lawmakers approved a bill authorizing the state Gaming Commission to issue up to 3 licenses for casino resorts in different regions of the Commonwealth.

Meanwhile, expansion projects of casinos in other states are attracting job seekers looking to work in the industry.

In Louisiana, Las-Vegas-based Pinnacle Entertainment said it will begin construction on a 150-room hotel at the site of the Boomtown Casino in Jefferson Parish, The Associated Press reports. The project is expected to open later next year.

In a time when many communities are struggling, we are pleased to work closely with the Boomtown management team on this exciting hotel project bringing new jobs and continued economic development to the west bank, Jefferson Parish Councilman Ricky Templet stated.

In Mississippi, a new 7-year tourism tax incentive package that was recently approved by the Biloxi City Council is expected to create 90 new jobs at a new hotel tower at the Hard Rock Casino.
