Demand for Domestic Help Starting to Rise

Housekeeping Jobs Demand

As the economy begins to rebound, demand for housekeeping help is start to increase worldwide.

According to the Guild of Professional English Butlers, a slew of newly minted millionaires has helped employment for English butlers grow by 20% over the past year. However, it does appear that stateside, there is also a spike in demand for domestic professionals who have an array of qualifications on their resume.

We believe very strongly that butlers should have proficiency in doing every job within a household, Charles MacPherson, president of Charles MacPherson Associates, a top training center for household management, noted. MacPherson said an "extraordinary" butler can look forward to a long career and make a base salary of more than $100,000 per year. He said he is also starting to see a big demand in household help with technology skillsTo be successful, the butler of today must absolutely be tech savvy, MacPherson added. "They should have some foundational understanding of smart-home technology that allows them to operate and, just as importantly, explain how to operate the various smart systems within a home."

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment opportunities for maids and housekeeping cleaners are expected to increase by 8% through the end of the decade.
