Writing a resume education section requires a few elements, including listing your degree and institution name, the institution’s location and the name of your major. For marketing jobseekers who did not attend a higher education institution, any other schooling completed is acceptable including community college and certificate programs. Seasoned marketing professionals who have updated their skills will list that training here in addition to any colleges attended. Candidates who have not attended any higher education program should provide their high school information.
You are not required to disclose dates when writing a resume education section. Therefore, if you graduated from college more than a couple years ago, omit graduation dates.
How to Format a Marketing Resume Education Section
To properly format a marketing resume education section, begin with your most recently completed degree or program that is currently in progress, and work your way back. In reverse chronological order and for each institution you attended, list the full name of your degree as the first item. If you earned any academic honors such as cum laude, list the information next to your degree. The full college name and city with state will follow, proceeded with the complete name of your major and minor, if applicable. Recent graduates at any level can list their graduation year as doing so will indicate that your education is up to date.
While writing a resume education section, separate elements with commas, but omit periods at the end of each line when listing each institution’s information. Use proper punctuation, however, when describing relevant internships, paid and unpaid work experience while attending school, and projects under each establishment.
