Just because a retail company sells surfing or camping equipment doesn’t mean its culture is laid back. And just because a company sells consumer electronics doesn’t mean its employees are geeky or uptight. In fact, the product and company brand may not represent the workplace culture at all. And you’ll be happier if the working environment matches your style and personality.
3. “What specific traits can help an employee do well here?”
In most companies, the employees most likely to get ahead are those who follow the rules, work hard, limit gossip and take a personal interest in company success. But in this workplace, are there any specific traits that stand out or qualities that seem to be highly rewarded? Is it better to focus on the team, to be competitive or to strive for a position of leadership? If you’re passionate about the product the company sells, will this help you?
