A new survey has found that professionals with a finance or accounting degree on their resume feel secure in their jobs.
According to the survey by human resources service firm Randstad, 76% of finance and accounting workers said they somewhat or strongly agree that they are secure in their employment, while another 78% also said they believe their companies will be successful in the future.
Finance people get to see the health of a company from a different perspective from the rest of the employees, Randstad finance and accounting president Brendan Courtney said. “And they’re starting to gain confidence that the companies they work for have turned the corner…companies and individuals within those companies are starting to gain what I call ‘corporate confidence.'”
Courtney said finance professionals need to stay relevant in today’s competitive job market by moving beyond their traditional roles of bookkeeping, tax preparation and financial reporting by being able to think strategically and help manage operations.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for accountants and auditors are expected to increase by 16% through the end of the decade.
