Every college student is familiar with the question – “What’s your major?” It seems that the study of psychology is the most popular major choice among many students today.

According to Central Michigan Life, students at Central Michigan University are choosing a psychology degree more than ever.

As the second most popular major at the university, it is also the most popular minor program offered, reports the news source. Students who pursue a degree in psychology can either chose to pursue a Master’s program in order to start a career as a school, clinical or industrial organization psychologist or as a researcher. For those who want to obtain a Bachelor’s degree, it is common for a psychology degree holder to pursue a career in human services.

“It has to do with who you are and why you’re that way, which is something everyone is interested in,” psychology professor John Monahan told the news source.

It is a good thing too that the degree program is popular, since the employment of psychologists is expected to increase by 12% through 2018.
