People interested in pursuing a career in health care may want to consider adding a management degree to their resume in order to advance in the emerging field. Now, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has announced it will offer a new online program in health care management designed to give students the education and skills needed to take advantage of a growing number of medical career opportunities.
SNHU officials said the program can prepare graduates for jobs that include health services manager, health policy analyst, public health administration or community health manager.The Bachelor of Science online Healthcare Management degree at SNHU provides students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies to effectively manage within the complex healthcare delivery system, Dr. Kathleen Polley-Payne, associate dean of nursing and chief nursing administrator at SNHU, added. “The management-oriented curriculum offers students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of leadership while exploring contemporary issues in healthcare from a business perspective.”The school said the program will help students understand how the health care system works, and how its legal and ethical guidelines impact the collection and use of data. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for medical and health services managers are expected to increase by 22% through 2020.
