Dear Mr. Stanley,
I am writing this correspondence as my letter of resignation from my position as Assistant Professor of English due to health issues. I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be starting treatments in the very near future. I feel that it is best for both myself and for my students if I take some time to focus on improving my health. It is for this reason that I formally submit my resignation due to health issues effective October 3, 2014. This is my official two weeks’ notice.
I regret any inconvenience my departure may cause for my colleagues and students. I am more than willing to do what I can to assist in the transition process for whomever will be taking over my courseload, and I will leave all of my lesson plans behind.
