As a farmer, you might not be as accustomed to completing paperwork as an office worker. But, you do understand the need to remain professional and respectful of your employment. When leaving your position, whether you work for a small family property or a large corporate owned operation, it is important to provide adequate notice and a quality farmer resignation letter. Within the letter, a final date of employment should be given so the farm managers can find appropriate coverage for your duties.

Dear Mr. Booker,
I want to thank you for the past seven years of my employment at Green Hills Farms. I have enjoyed so much the opportunity to develop untapped land into such wonderfully productive wheat and corn fields. I am providing this letter as notification of my resignation as I move on to management of my own farm property. My last day of employment at Green Hills will be May 1, 2015.
I hope you know how much I respect your management style and how you conduct yourself professionally, as well as out in the fields. You have taught me so much about the heavy equipment, science and art of farming that I did not learn in college and I seriously doubt most farmers are exposed to so thoroughly. This added education has enabled me to achieve more for you and helped profitability drive my bonuses to the position that I could afford my own land.
Just as you have done so well by me, I want to do well for you. I want to ensure a seamless transition as the new wheat and corn farmer steps into my place. If there is anything in particular I can provide to make this happen, please let me know.
Sincerely yours,
John Obershlake
