Dear Col. Bass,
I hereby tender my resignation from the Army under the appropriate provisions.
I have gladly given my country 26 years of dedicated service but it is time to move on. My daughter is about to make me a grandfather and my wife wants to be closer to her family. And my wife deserves that. Like me, she has devoted her entire life to service on my behalf. She accepted my long absences while raising our four children. It did not matter what happened off the base, in other countries, she was the constant when I returned. Regardless of how long I was gone, she did not let our children forget me.
One deployment after another, she has given me a reason to return and the strength to go back out there. Even when I saw the stress behind her smile, she never complained. Never asked me to alter my course. So as proud as I am to have been a part of the 113th, serving my country, the Commander-in-Chief and, yes, you, it is time to offer my heartfelt gratitude to everyone that has supported me here and move on. From receiving a Purple Heart to the fine men who have served under me, it has been an honor.
Best regards,
Tia Petersen
Infantry Captain
