Many people who are looking for jobs or a change of career are looking for something that not only offers stability and flexibility, but also a job that will stay interesting. The hospitality industry is just that, and is proving to be a very popular career choice.

According to APP.com, 11 students recently graduated from a pilot tourism and hospitality program at Rutgers University. The Ocean County library worked with the university to provide instructors and classroom space.

The Rutgers’ Center for Women and Work developed the program, according to the news source. The students, who ranged 16 to 21, told the news source how the hospitality program gave them the proper skills to enter the business world.

“It’s hard to run a business,” Daniel Skinner, a graduate, told the news source. “I learned that you have to respect people.”

The program taught students how to use databases, do basic accounting and other skills that would be essential in a managerial hospitality career.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the hospitality industry is expected to grow by 22% through 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19925326-ADNFCR
