Starwood's New Hotels May Lead to Many Careers in Travel

Hotel management has become a desirable position for many individuals who enjoy dealing with customer service and are looking for jobs that do not require an extensive education. Working at a hotel offers an array of possibilities- from customer service to culinary, there are positions for almost anyone.

Hotel company Starwood is looking to expand their empire and are planning to bring on thousands of new positions, according to USA Today. This year, Starwood plans to open 80 to 100 new hotels around the world, creating more than 12,000 new positions for interested applicants. According to the news source, half of the jobs created will be in the United States.

"Today, the travel industry employs 7.7 million Americans – more than double that of the auto industry – and travel is uniquely positioned to create even more jobs as the economy continues to recover," Starwood CEO Frits van Paaschen said.
