Oregon State University Launches New Hospitality Program

Many people are heading back to school to discover passions that may lead to a new career path. A new collaboration hospitality program will allow people to try out their best managerial and cooking skills, while learning more about an ever-growing industry.

Oregon State University (OSU) is partnering with Cornell University to launch a new hospitality program to expand the region's service industry, according to OPB.com.

OSU and Cornell will start off offering three classes at OSU-Cascades, according to the news source, that will touch on introductory themes relevant in the industry, such as managerial skills, accounting and cooking. Courses that will be added later will include leadership and pricing classes.

There are currently 12 students enrolled in the new classes.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the hospitality industry employed more than 13 million people across the country in July. Through 2018, the hospitality industry is expected to grow at least 11%, according to the BLS.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19931417-ADNFCR
