Film critic Andrew Sarris once described cinema as both a mirror and a window, reflecting life while allowing some people to look at a world different to their own. Film both shows us a piece of our lives and something a little unfamiliar, igniting imaginations and stirring strong emotions. Today, Hollywood still retains its status as a mythic land, full of the dreams of individuals trying to break into the film industry. However, for a lucky few in one state, the movies are instead coming to them. Thanks to new tax credits for film production, Michigan has recently seen an influx of the rich, famous and creatively inclined, USA Today reports. Industry professionals have decided to scout locations in the area for their latest ventures. Georgle Clooney, Hiliary Swank and others have been spotted in Michigan, the news provider reveals. Meanwhile, producers who decide to shoot their films in the state can expect a maximum tax credit of 42 percent on production expenses. For those who aim to enter the world on the other side of the camera, the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that jobs for producers and directors will grow by 11% until at least 2016. |
