Careers in Cooking Can Lead to the All Star Game

The role of the cook varies immensely from the chef in a high-end restaurant to the fast food short order cook to the simple down-home fare of a country kitchen.

During the All-Star break for Major League Baseball, the various clubs aren't only competing on the baseball diamond, they are helping feed the fans who support them throughout the year.

KSDK reports that the chefs from various major league teams combined forces to put on two massive parties for 4,200 people as part of the festivities for the big game. In honor of the host city, everything is being cooked St. Louis-style and local cooking students were invited to help prepare the feast as a chance to prepare for their future careers.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that nationwide, chefs, cooks and food preparation workers made up 3.1 million jobs in 2006 and that number will rise by 11% through to 2016, up to almost 3.5 million.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19265440-ADNFCR
