This economy can be anything but friendly when looking for a job. However, some expert advise can help alleviate some of the stresses of applying for jobs by putting applicants one step ahead, especially with the onset of technological screening of resumes before they even land on a hiring manager's desk.

According to YahooHotJobs, the use of keywords in your resume has the ability to stand out on the computer and in person. Hiring managers and recruiters often use an applicant-tracking system to filter through resumes and will search for keywords related to the job they need to fill.

The key, however, is not going overboard. Chandlee Bryan, career coach, told YahooHotJobs not to use more than nine. For example, if applying for an accounting job, the key words "accounting" and "accountant" should be used, but also should make the resume read well.

"You don't want to write something that doesn't read well just because you're trying to get the word 'accountant' in 10 different ways," said Barbara Safani, author of "Happy About My resume," to YahooHotJobs.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in May dropped to 9.7%, with 431,000 new jobs added to the workforce.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19828690-ADNFCR
