As the economic downturn starts to rebound, many job seekers may be wondering why they are not getting any call backs after submitting a resume. One employment expert says it may not be the potential candidate who's at fault, it may just be time to rethink the job hunting strategy.

Curt Cetraro, chief executive officer at ConnectPoint Search Group in Sacramento, California, told the Kansas City Star that job seekers need to zero in on an industry and do their research.

"They're presenting themselves in a very generic fashion to companies that want very specific individuals," Cetraro told the news source.

Cetraro suggests candidates seek out trade publications, attend social business events and join associated organizations as part of face-to-face networking. He said job seekers need to show a sincere interest in the company, and not be afraid to call executives to ask to set up an informational meeting.

As far a revamping a resume, Cetraro said it's always a good idea to have more than one - each targeted to a specific job or career field. He said job seekers need to customize the format to include key search words that focus on skill set rather than career objective.
