With the country still in doubt over a quick economic recovery, a recent survey found that Texas is still thriving when it comes to adding numbers to its workforce. The survey of more than 18,000 employers in 100 metropolitan ares found that overall 16% of those asked said that they expected to increase staffing levels through the fourth quarter of this year, with San Antonio, Texas, showing the most employment growth potential. Richard Perez, president of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, told Forbes the city continues to remain a bright spot in the hiring picture. "San Antonio is well positioned to come out ahead in the future as well because our cost of living remains low, making it a good environment for companies to increase their investment in jobs here, plus we have a very talented labor pool because we graduate more than 30,000 from our colleges and universities each year," Perez noted. Perez said that professionals with health care, biosciences and financial services experience on their resume continue to find jobs in the area. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that professionals with advanced degrees on their resumes can earn $1,000 more per week than those with some or no college education. |
