Current workers looking for a new position in 2012 need to stay under the radar in their internet job search.

Susan P. Joyce, online job search expert, said employed job seekers need to take precautions as they search for work or post their resumes while on company time.

Joyce said candidates need to begin their "stealth job search" by making sure they keep a low profile and only search for openings at home. She suggested that job seekers also use a persona or other non-work email account and make sure to remove any current employer's contact information from their resume.

When it comes to social media, candidates should also keep a low electronic profile by not posting their resume on every job board or sending it out to every network contact. Joyce said that job seekers need to be aware that widely distributed resumes can easily wind up in the wrong hands. Job seekers can avoid this obstacle by using the "confidential" setting when posting a resume on a prospective employer's website

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were approximately 3.3 million job openings in the U.S. as of November 2011.
