For people who have always wanted to combine a healthcare career and their love for travelling to different areas of the country, a growing industry is emerging that is seemingly catering to their needs.

Travel nurses, used to help offset low staff levels at various hospitals and medical facilities, have blossomed into its own industry with more people opting to work for three months in one place before moving on, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Marcia Faller, an executive vice president for a national temporary health care staffing agency, told the news provider nurses who travel can expand their medical knowledge as they embrace their "adventurous" spirit.

"You can go anywhere you want in the country," Faller said. "[But] starting a new job every three months takes a special type of person."
The average time for a travel nurse in one place is 13 weeks, according to Faller. Those interested need to have at least one year of experience at hospital.

Overall, the job opportunities in the nursing industry are expected to be excellent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. By 2016, an estimated 587,000 new jobs will be generated, which is one of the only industries with that much growth.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19113184-ADNFCR
