New Jersey's second largest private employer, Barbabas Health, said it will collaborate with the Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest to help its workers and future employees add more skills on their resume in the emerging health care field. Funded by a 1-year $100,000 grant from the Greater Newark Workforce Funders Collaborative, the partnership will prepare workers for a range of higher-paying jobs, including tuition reimbursement for those who want to pursue a career in nursing. Beatrice S, Anzur, vice president of human resources development at Barnabas, said the training will help prepare workers for a number of family sustaining careers. "Barnabas Health is committed to hiring, training, promoting and retaining qualified, motivated employees, and in providing a supportive environment for their personal growth and development," Anzur stated. "Barnabas Health offers extensive career opportunities in a wide array of settings, from acute care hospitals and geriatric centers to hospice and home care programs." Classes will also include job-readiness, patient communications and conflict resolution. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for health care are expected to grow faster than most other occupations, by 22%, through 2018. |
