At a time when many Americans wake up to read about healthcare news in the headlines, careers in healthcare are evolving into new roles. The responsibilities of a nurse often require a large reserve of technical skills, the ability to think quickly and decisively and express an attitude that views health as a lifestyle choice.

While some hospitals are adapting to the economic recession by reducing nursing jobs, many qualified professionals are pursuing careers in nursing by accepting jobs in the registered nurse (RN) health coach sector.

One company, L.I.T.E. Therapeutics has developed a program which creates employment opportunities for trained nurses and helps consumers meet personal health and lifestyle goals. A L.I.T.E. spokesman points out that, unlike typical personal training professionals, RN health coaches already have the medical training necessary to make accurate judgments about client diet, nutrition and health challenges and make precise diagnoses.

The company's founder, Dwayne Adams, said, "Our turn-key approach provides nurses with all the tools necessary to effectively manage both their patients and their businesses, to successfully transition into this growing field even during the nursing industry recession."

The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects that the employment of registered nurses will grow about 23% until 2016, which is a much faster growth rate than the average for all jobs.
