Having a background in high-demand industries on a resume such as health care and technology isn't always a guarantee of career success. According to new research by the Entrepreneur's Source, people looking for long-term job security may want to expand their opportunities through business ownership. Brian Miller, president and chief operating officer of the Entrepreneur's Source, said that today's "new career economy" may limit options for many skilled workers. "In the future, career skills in this new economy will require many to become extremely good at fending for themselves if they're going to survive in the job market of the future," Miller stressed. "We have found that the most successful people have already positioned themselves to be self sufficient and taken control of their own destiny," Miller said that people looking to start their own businesses or franchise opportunities should learn more about how different business models and how they can help them attain their income and equity expectations. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 2.5 million jobs were created in the U.S. by new business establishments in 2010. |
