The University of Memphis Lumbuth Campus in Jackson, Tennessee, has announced plans to add several new degree programs to its curriculum next year. The school said it's looking to expand its offerings to help students add specialized degrees to their resumes in a number of emerging fields. Starting in the fall of 2012, the college will offer a bachelor of arts in English, communications, psychology, accounting and a bachelor of professional studies in entertainment music industries through University College, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. Dan Lattimore, dean of the Lambuth campus, told the news agency that the new programs will offer students in the West Tennessee area more options for finding successful employment in the future. "We've been talking to student groups, students that are on the campus already and ones that are coming to visit," Lattimore told the news agency."And those are the ones that seem to be the most desired immediately." Lattimore said the Methodist school will also offer a bachelors of science in biology/pre-med and a bachelors of science in nursing for transfer students. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, professionals with an advanced degree on their resume can earn $1,000 more per week than those with some or no college education. |
