Despite a school district in Oklahoma facing debt and a need to balance the budget, officials say that the system's teachers will get to retain their jobs. Additionally, the district plans to increase the number of their staff.

School officials at Putnam City School in Oklahoma say they are cutting some school services, including shortening bus routes, but there is no plan to reduce the number of teachers in the district, KOCO-TV reports.

While the school district has faced the brunt of operating with 10% less budget from the state, it will hold a job fair on Tuesday to recruit additional teachers. However, the report did not say exactly how many more teachers the district needs.

The report notes that the number of new hires will depend on several factors, including the number of teachers who are expected to take early retirement and the increase in student enrollment.

At the national level, hiring of new teaches has remained brisk despite the recession, and demand is expected to surge in the next decade. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs of kindergarten, elementary, middle and secondary school teachers will increase by 13% through 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19716617-ADNFCR
