Good news is floating around the teaching industry as school boards across the country are working to make sure that they can keep their teachers as the new school year quickly approaches. One school board in Indiana worked hard to make sure that half of their teachers, who were previously laid off, will be coming back to work.

According to Business Week, the Fort Wayne school board announced that 149 of the 311 teachers who were laid off earlier this year, have been rehired.

The remaining half of teachers will be finding out soon whether they will reclaim their jobs at their original school or be hired elsewhere, after the teaching union sees where more teachers are needed, according the news source.

With $15 million in budget cuts, the district's struggling schools are still making an effort to improve the quality of education. It's expected that 91 teaching positions will go unfilled.

Teachers still looking for a job in Indiana should look into LEAD schools - or low performing schools targeted for improvement. Many teachers who were removed from their original position are turning towards LEAD schools, as there is substantial room for growth and the opportunity to be involved in many ways outside the classroom.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of teachers is expected to grow 13% between 2008 and 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19912924-ADNFCR
