The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced that it plans to launch a strong recruitment effort to take on more employees in the near future. It said that it is actively looking for new talent to fill entry-level positions and has also cut down on the average time required for hiring personnel. Approximately 208,000 people work for the DHS and there are opportunities for people to work in a variety of locations, including in the Office of the Secretary, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Coast Guard and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Currently, the most active recruitment effort is taking place within the acquisitions team, which procures more than $20 billion worth of goods and services each year. The average salary for a Homeland Security employee working in Washington DC is $70,000, according to indeed.com, though it notes that this amount is higher than similar roles located in other areas of the country. |
