There are other ways to uphold the law besides chasing a criminal down the street or busting down the door of an alleged meeting place of a gang. Sometimes, all it takes is a sharp eye.

An Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation criminologist reportedly discovered fingerprints left by an alleged bank robber from a note she used during the crime, the Associated Press reports.

FBI officials told the news provider that 30-year-old Briona Marie Matthews was identified to authorities through fingerprints on a demand note she left behind after one of her alleged robberies. The note read "I have a very big gun - quietly give me all of your drawer."

Matthews has been charged with four counts of bank robbery. Official said approximately $11,000 was stolen in similar robberies earlier this month.

People interested in careers in criminology can expect the industry to grow in the next five years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. While perspective criminologists may face competition for jobs, that may be complemented with the satisfaction of using innovative ways to bring justice to people who break the law.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19106132-ADNFCR
