Careers in counseling benefit high-profile clients
Many individuals struggle with problems throughout their lives and counselors provide often essential services, acting as a neutral, outside party. They guide the distraught through their issues, allowing them to work through the tough times and emerge, refreshed with insight and new beginnings.

One individual in the field, psychologist Dr Eric Cassius examines political extramarital affairs. He looks at how each politician is affected by the often tough response from the media and other politicians, reveals Tennessee's CBS affiliate, News Channel 3.

Cassius tells the news provider how politicians quickly move into the focus when a less-than-pleasant story about them is revealed, as they represent power and responsibility. The public hold them at a higher standard, he suggests.

"[O]nce they are in that position of power and control they actually realize they can't live up to what they set," he explained to the news team.

As a result, the fallen politician will receive extra criticism for his or her poor choices.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the top 10 % of counselors and counseling psychologists should expect to earn $145,500 on average per year, according to figures from 2008.

The median salary from 2008 was $86,120 per year for those in this field, making it a lucrative career choice. ADNFCR-1502-ID-19290342-ADNFCR
