A new government contract to support Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio could help create several hundred new jobs for those with computer technology experience on their resume in the Dayton area.

The Dayton Daily News reports that Virginia-based information technology company Intelligent Decisions Incorporated said it already has an immediate need for 50 to 100 new hires, with hundreds of new jobs possible over the next 5 years for 19 area companies involved in the $950 million federal deal.

Gus DeLucia, a team leader of Belcan TechServices who is working to help recruit workers for Intelligent Decisions, told the news agency most companies will be looking for a broad range of skills.

"The (hiring) potential is huge," DeLucia noted. He said the local hiring potential from this contract could reach “certainly a couple of hundred,” but he also cautioned that hiring will depend on government needs.

An Intelligent Decisions spokesman said the company, which hopes to have most employees in place by April 1, needs to hire software and hardware engineers and administrative specialists.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities for computer network and database administrators are expected to increase by 23% through 2018.
