The technology field is constantly changing with the inventions of new software and gadgets. Because of this, those with careers in information technology (IT) need to be up-to-date in terms of knowledge. As many companies look to invest in the most up-to-date technologies and software, IT employees need to be able to adapt to the newest systems.

North Carolina is currently changing their IT systems to look into ways to save, according to the Washington Post. Using streamlining and cloud computing, the hope is that these cost-efficient forms of technology will be better for businesses.

According to the news source, last year North Carolina spent more than $1.1 billion in information technology.

The plan was created by the state's Budget Reform and Accountability Commission, which states that even minor changes could help.

"Even small improvements could have considerable impact because procurement involves virtually every unit of state government," a commission document said.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, IT opportunities will increase by 17% by 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19569246-ADNFCR
