A new report has found that professionals with high tech experience on their resume may be able to find work in New York City, as the hub begins to outpace most of the nation in industry job growth. According to the "New Tech City" report by the Center for an Urban Future, New York City is now the fastest growing metropolis in the tech sector, outpacing Boston and other major technology centers, the New York Daily News reports. "It’s not only that the city’s tech center has grown, it now seems like it’s a sustainable tech center, which is a huge difference from where New York is now and where it was during the tech bubble of the late 1990s," report co-author Jonathan Bowles told the news outlet. The report found that the city's tech sector has seen the launch of approximately 500 new companies and the creation of more than 50,000 jobs since 2007. New York City now is second only to California's Silicon Valley in terms of high-tech job growth. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for computer and information systems managers are expected to increase by 18% through the end of the decade. |
