If you're skilled with computers and love games, a perfect career choice may be trying to work as a video game designer.

A recent report on TechNewsWorld advises would-be game designers to be very imaginative and willing to engage in repetitive tasks and to be a very hard worker in general.

"Thinking that 'Hey, I like playing games, so maybe I'd like making them' is sort of like saying, 'Hey, I really like taking baths, maybe I'd like to be a plumber," game designer and author Jesse Schell told the website.

Designers are also advised to be well-versed in the many different forms of video games out there, and to even possibly have some experience creating something like a card game or board game. Those who want to get into the industry can also perhaps try their hand at developing a mobile game for the iPhone.

The Hartford Courant recently reported on the growing popularity of online games that are based on current events news stories. For example, the United Nations World Food Program has a game that educates people about hunger relief, while those seeking lighter fare can try games like "Sock and Awe" or "Crashteroids."
