Social media has become a driving force in how people conduct business today. Social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook have become integral in how a company promotes themselves to potential clients and buyers. Because of the shift in technology, many organizations are starting to look at people who have experience with information technology (IT), as they may be able to serve the company's social media needs. As companies are beginning to thaw from their hiring freezes, many are reporting to recruit individuals with knowledge of technology and social media to help them advance their business, according to the Miami Herald. One of the qualifications a potential employee should have is the ability to properly communicate with the audience using social media. "There's a sense of energy you need with these folks," AutoNation spokesman Marc Cannon told the news provider. "They have to be good conversationalists, and hone things down into short message points." According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in IT are predicted to increase 17% by 2018. |
