Many people are supplementing their nine-to-five job with a little bit of freelancing. One industry that freelancers seem to be finding frequent job postings is in the technology industry.

According to PC World, the competition between technology companies is fueling the increase in freelance jobs. The Freelancer Fast 50 report, which covers increases in job postings on a quarter-to-quarter basis, showed that the biggest gains were where tech giants were fighting for market share.

"What we see time and again is that no matter what the hot tech trend of the day is, ultimately it's the online worker that benefits," CEO of Freelancer.com, Matt Barrie, told the news source.

One of the disputes that happened during the survey time was the Adobe and Apple spat about the delivery of video to mobile phones. Along with disputes, the news source says that mobile apps are also a lucrative deal for freelancers to develop. There was a 282% increase in mobile phone app jobs, according to the news provider.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of people with computer network and database knowledge, is expected to increase by 30% between 2008 and 2018.
